Performance Armour does not currently have the ability in-house to offer heat-treating services on armour, however through an agreement with a local machine shop we are able to offer that service on cost+ basis.
Should you desire heat-treatment services on a particular piece of armor (to more closely approximate the working temper of a mild steel helmet for instance, or perhaps to spring-temper a piece of armour to allow a thinner & lighter plate to be utilized) we will happily get a bid on your behalf to perform the heat treatment, and roll the cost of that into a single transaction between you and the performance armour team.
The shop we utilize has precision electric furnaces, multiple media baths (salt, vermiculite, sand), and multiple quench media to provide a consistently high-quality end product tempered to a precise measurement. (non-destructive brinell & rockwell hardness testing available upon request)
