These finger gauntlets are custom manufactured specifically to your size, on your behalf. We ask that you find a pair of properly fitting all leather gloves, and mark the knuckle position on them, before sending them to us, along with a tracing of your hand. This is to insure the best possible fit.
These gauntlets can be executed in either .040 6AL-4V titanium (causing them to weigh less than 1 lb each! less than most plastic mitten gauntlet designs!) or in 304 stainless steel.
Full contact lames (that means that each lame completely covers your finger in an upside down U ) transfer the force of impact to the haft of your weapon, plus 1/4 inch of neoprene, The lower thumb plates wrap around the thumb providing complete thumb protection, as well as extending towards the palm of the hand, providing protection for the odd shot in that area.
Our standard wrist design is a leather articulated three part wrist, allowing a full range of wrist motion, including a natural twisting motion (dont expect to find -that- in anyone else's gauntlet designs!)
These finger gauntlets are legal SCA wide as stand-alone hand protection, no finger bucklers or basket hilts required.
We've found that folx who fight primarily polearm and great-weapons are -tremendous- proponents of this style of hand protection, as having the ability to use each finger individually, while not compromising the protection over your fingers, really opens up a whole new range of moves within their style.
These differ from the type 1's in that they have a much more rounded profile in the 3/4 style fingertips (which we think looks better), and some different possible styles in the back of the hand including a fluted design, a knuckle bump design, and a design with a single knuckle ridge.
