A norman conical helm built to the standards necessary to meet the name of "Performance". We start with a 10-guage stainless steel blank (after shaping, nominal thickness of at least 12 guage), and then shape it and weld it inside and out. 14 guage sides, and 1/4 inch stainless barwork - blacked out is standard. This is a helmet that is similar to our performance bascinet line in that . . . if you get a dent, someone needs to be examined for excessive force!
Available with your choice of stainless or brass rivitwork (because of the welding process that we use to actually structurally put the helmet together, the rivets are more for decoration than to functionally hold the helmet together, hence the availability of brass rivets in this application)
It should be noted that these conical helmets are not -round- (existing examples of norman conical helmets were oblong in shape as is the human head.) Mongolian/oriental/persian styles of helmets were more round, these are more closely profiled to the shape of the human head.
These helms are ideal for any number of the fine replica crests, nasals, and occulars that we have available. (see them Here)
These helms are available with either a solid, or a slatted back, and can be designed to accomodate either a hanging camail, or a full-to-the-eyeline aventail.
A number of different styles of barwork are available on these helms as well (and we can certainly substitute or add pierced metal where needed for the fencing and WMA combat communities)
A Performane Norman Conical helmet, shown with a fixed type-2 bi-directional faceplate, in a Satin finish.
