Placards are a later-medieval/renaissance style of body protection.
They were often worn over a coat of mail, and were designed to provide additional rigid protection for the soft parts of the torso, while leaving the upper chest exposed.
This makes for body protection that amply covers the solar plexus and other areas of the abdomen, floating ribs, and kidneys (the areas most easily injured by blunt-force trauma). . . while still allowing for complely unhindered mobility in the upper body.
Our titanium option in this body harness provides an exceptionally strong, lightweight, an maintenance-free choice for this type of harness.
We also offer a stainless steel option, primarily for those who are seeking a more deeply-contoured gothic version of this body harness; an aluminum option for those seeking a more cost effective alternative, and an ABS option for those who are going to be using it as a concealed protection.
